Punjab teachers oppose 7 yrs Transfer Policy-2018

Ferozepur, March 8, 2018:  Elementary Teachers Union, Ferozepur today in its meeting held under the tutelage of Sukhjinder Singh Khanpuria, District President at local Gandhi Garden, condemned the Transfer Policy 2018-19 under which the teachers in Punjab will be transferred every seven years.
Khanpuria said, while there will be uprooting of teachers at a large scale, the study of the students will also be affected. With the introduction of this anti-teachers policy, it will also impinge on the interest of the newly transferred teachers for meeting the basic needs of the schools with the assistance of social organizations and personal contributions knowingly that he or she will be transferred after seven years in the particular school.
Recently, the government has formulated a policy to transfer the teachers in Punjab every seven years which was okayed by the Punjab Cabinet on March 7. Added here, the Transfer Policy 2018 aims to obliterate various categories of teachers and allow them posting anywhere.  The move is aimed at overcoming staff shortage.  The post of head teacher will be created in primary schools only if the number of students exceeds 60.   The teacher-student ratio in Punjab’s primary schools is 27, middle schools 22, high schools 16 and senior secondary 29.
The Union leaders said with these orders, it will give air to the politics in schools, the teaches will be compelled to approach the Ministers. Not only would this, under the new policy, a teacher working away from home district not be able to get his posting even if the post is vacant.
They said, it looks to be conspiracy to close down the government schools which will not be tolerated at any cost.  They said in case the anti-teachers decisions like the abolition of head teacher post in schools less than 60 students, are not taken back, the government has to face a massive protest from the teachers.
Giving a detailed information, Sukhwinder Sngh Bhullar, State Committee Member and Harjit Singh Sandhu, General Secretary said, the next meeting to chalk out further strategy will be held on March 10 at Jalandhar at Desh Bhagat Yadgari Hall.
